Your sexual health may be telling you something

From my desk to you

Feel Better. Look Better. Be Better.

(there is an update on baby kitten, Luna at the end)

Men often wait too long to discuss changes in libido, erections, morning erections, or sexual confidence.

These concerns are common, but they should not automatically be dismissed as “just getting older.” Sexual symptoms may overlap with hormonal, vascular, metabolic, medication-related, sleep-related, psychological, or relationship factors.

Erectile dysfunction can sometimes be an early sign of blood-vessel or cardiovascular concerns, particularly when symptoms are new, worsening, or occurring alongside other risk factors. Diabetes can also increase the risk of erectile dysfunction by affecting the nerves and blood vessels involved in erections. That does not mean every sexual concern signals a serious disease, but it does mean the symptoms deserve a thoughtful evaluation rather than dismissal.

Libido and erectile function are also not the same concern. A man may have normal erections but low desire, or desire may be present while erections are inconsistent. The evaluation should account for the difference.

That is why sexual health deserves a complete evaluation rather than a quick prescription. Depending on your history, the conversation may include testosterone and other hormone concerns, sleep, medications, stress, mood, relationship factors, weight, metabolic health, and vascular risk.

I link research articles because I want you to be able to read the science behind my clinical thought process. My approach is rooted in research and data, while also making space for your symptoms, goals, questions, and personal experience. Good care requires both evidence and listening.

You do not have to feel embarrassed about asking for help. Sexual health is just health, and many contributing factors are treatable or manageable once they are identified.

P.S. So, Luna turns out to be a less than appropriate name for the kitten we found and brought back from death's door. I have been feeding this sweet baby kitten for several weeks now. First with a pipette, then with a syringe, then a bottle, now a bigger bottle with the nipple end completely cut off to allow the slurry of milk replacement and wet food to flow. Luna weighed less than 1/2 a pound and needed ALMOST more nursing care than I could provide! Mainly those every 2 hour feedings! SHEW. But today we learned that Luna is nearly 1.5 pounds and SHOULD be moving onto wet food sooner than later! Big announcement... Luna is a BOY! Seems it takes some time for those male kitten parts to make themselves known. We are working on a new name for him. Here is a recent picture. His eyes are starting to change!

P.S. Please share my email. Hit forward and maybe the person you share it with will click HERE and join the email list too!
