Series part 1: Tired, gaining weight, and low libido?
From my desk to you
Feel Better. Look Better. Be Better.
Good afternoon!
Luna is still drinking a bottle like its the last one she will ever get! She's up to 550 gm and showing our 5 dogs who is Alpha several times a day! (If you do not know who Luna is, check the previous email of the blog on the website). She is vigorous and enthusiastic for sure ~ (photo at the end)
And wanting to feel "vigorous and enthusiastic" is a nice lead into this email. I am starting a mini series on Men's Health. It will be a 6 part series. Have the males in your life subscribe to this email list!!
Many men notice changes in energy, motivation, libido, strength, or body composition and immediately wonder whether testosterone is the problem.
Sometimes it is. But similar symptoms can also be associated with poor sleep, obstructive sleep apnea, weight gain, stress, medications, metabolic health, and other medical concerns.
That is why a responsible testosterone evaluation should look at more than one lab result. Symptoms, repeat testing, total and free testosterone, SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin), sleep quality, medications, medical history, and overall health all matter.
A low total testosterone result does not always tell the complete story. Conditions such as obesity and insulin resistance can alter SHBG and affect how testosterone results should be interpreted. In some cases, free testosterone provides additional context, particularly when total testosterone is borderline or does not match the symptoms.
The goal is not simply to push testosterone higher. The goal is to understand what may be contributing to how you feel and determine whether treatment is appropriate.
I link research articles throughout my educational content because I want you to be able to read the science behind my thought process. My approach is rooted in research and data, while also making space for your symptoms, goals, and personal experience. Good care requires both evidence and listening.
You do not have to guess or rely on an online dosing protocol. At Ignite Willow Health Optimization, your care is not reduced to an algorithm or a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. I take the time to review your history, symptoms, goals, laboratory findings, sleep, weight, medications, and overall health so your options can be considered in context.
As an independent, licensed clinician focused on interventional endocrinology and longevity medicine, I bring medical judgment, evidence-informed care, and attentive listening to the evaluation. A confidential men’s health consultation can help clarify what may be happening and identify practical next steps.
Schedule a confidential men’s health consultation with Nichole Wilson, FNP, to evaluate testosterone, sexual health, weight, sleep, and metabolic concerns.
