I am spending the weekend at a medical conference. Here's what caught my attention so far.
From my desk to you
Feel Better. Look Better. Be Better.
As often as possible, I make it a point to get back in the room with the clinicians, researchers, and innovators who are pushing functional, regenerative, and integrative medicine forward. This weekend, that room is in Dallas at the HEAL Conference. HEAL stands for Health, Education & Advanced Learning and it has not disappointed.
The sessions have been dense, evidence-driven, and genuinely exciting. Here's a glimpse of what I've been immersed in:
Peptide therapy continues to evolve rapidly, with new data on applications for healing, body composition, and performance. GLP-1 therapies are expanding well beyond weight loss! We're talking targeted use for inflammatory and metabolic disease processes that most patients haven't heard discussed yet. Methylene blue and NAD+ therapy are generating serious clinical conversation around cognitive function, cellular energy, and aging. And high-dose Vitamin C continues to show compelling data for both oncology support and longevity protocols.
I'm already thinking about what belongs at IWHO, what the evidence supports, and how to build it into your care thoughtfully and responsibly. More on each of these topics in the weeks ahead.
I had the chance to hear Shannon Miller speak. Shannon is an Olympic gold medalist and member of the 1996 Magnificent Seven, the first U.S. women's gymnastics team to win Olympic gold! What I didn't know until this weekend: she is also an ovarian cancer survivor. She spoke about what she calls a Gold Medal Mentality; setting goals with clarity, anchoring to your deeper why, and following through even when it's hard.
Shannon Miller and me! I still remember her white hair scruchy!!
It struck me as exactly the standard I want to hold for my practice. You deserve a provider who shows up at that level. That's what this work is about.
